It's a daily barrage of specious videos posted on the Internet Machine. For starters, the many proper exercise technique videos shared by either Joe or Jane steroid abusers or the genetically gifted who look great but did little to develop those traits (READ: Sally Ann Cavanaugh [a 1985 Fletch reference] posting photos of her well-developed derriere from doing lunges when that caboose was 95% a product of good genes). I cringe when someone recommends “breakthrough” methods we've known for decades (analogous to how to boil water) or purported magic technique tips that (all other factors being equal) don't truly offer an advantage over time-tested basic movements.
For so many seeking the magic bullet, it still comes down to 1) actually working HARD with safe and basic exercises that address all muscle structures, 2) doing it CONSISTENTLY and PROGRESSIVELY (stimulus applied --> recover and adapt --> attempt to do more over time), and 3) cleaning up their dietary intake as we live in a world with shit food everywhere.
Improving physique and increasing strength, power, endurance, etc. is not quantum physics as many believe. Those can be developed within one’s genetic potential using principles of training we’ve known for a long time. They have not changed. What has changed is the uptick of laziness in a world full of processed food. There would be more muscle and better physiques on the planet if more people worked harder, rested adequately, and shoved the proper chemicals down their pie holes.
